About BoroughBees

I've been keeping bees for almost 20 years and I'm still learning.

I started BoroughBees.com in 2010 as a way to share the knowledge I've accumulated and the learning experiences I've had (and continue to have) along the way. I want to help make beekeeping fun and accessible for anyone willing to try it, so I focus on writing accessible and (hopefully) enjoyable posts covering all aspects of beekeeping.

In partnership with the Added Value Farm in Red Hook, Brooklyn, I will be hosting public hive inspections and seminars on a regular weekend schedule, so be sure to check the calendar for events! We will also be expanding to other locations this year so if Red Hook is hard, but Prospect Heights is easier, we have some good news coming your way!

If you're interested in having bees visit your office, organization, or classroom, please feel free to contact us directly at info@boroughbees.com. We love sharing our bees with people, and we offer sliding scale rates to ensure that everyone can afford to meet the bees!

On top of that, I have a grown-up job teaching high school biology in a New York City public school. Whee!

On another note, beekeeping is an expensive hobby.

If you like what you have read on this blog and would like to help make my beekeeping, teaching (and blogging) endeavors easier, please feel free to donate a few dollars towards my equipment fund. I would really appreciate it.
